Functional Consultant – Dynamics 365 Business Central

We're looking for an experienced Functional Consultant / Dynamics 365 Business Central specialist to join an organisation currently progressing through its Business Central journey.
This isn't a role where you'll simply manage an implementation partner.
We need someone who genuinely understands Business Central from a finance and functional perspective and can get into the detail – reviewing what's already been delivered, identifying the gaps, challenging where things could be done better and helping ensure the system is configured properly for the business.
You'll become the internal go-to person for Business Central, working closely with Finance, internal stakeholders and the implementation partner through UAT, deployment and beyond.
What we're looking for
Ideally, you'll come from a Systems Accountant, Finance Systems or Dynamics 365 Business Central Functional Consulting background.
You'll need strong finance knowledge combined with genuine hands-on experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central.
Most importantly, we're looking for someone who understands how a finance system should work – not just someone who has used Business Central as an end user.
You'll be comfortable getting into the detail, questioning existing configurations, documenting requirements and gaps, working directly with implementation partners and taking ownership of getting things right.

What you'll be doing
You'll take a hands-on role across the Business Central environment, including:
- Reviewing the current Business Central setup and recommending best-practice improvements
- Understanding finance processes and ensuring BC is configured to support them effectively
- Identifying and documenting gaps between business requirements and the current solution
- Completing and maintaining functional and configuration documentation
- Providing hands-on functional configuration where required
- Working across core finance functionality including GL, AP, AR, chart of accounts, dimensions and financial reporting
- Working closely with the implementation partner and challenging solutions where necessary
- Developing and supporting the deployment and cutover strategy
- Planning and coordinating UAT, including test scenarios, defects and resolution
- Supporting go-live and deployment activities
- Troubleshooting system and process issues
- Maintaining and improving Business Central once live
- Supporting ongoing accounting and finance system requirements
